Hi, I'm Hyun Wook
I'm a software developer from Fiji currently based in Sydney, Australia. I'm obsessed about building software and I build both useless and useful ones because it's simply fun and fulfilling. I enjoy understanding how things work under the hood so I often spend time getting into the details of systems, programming languages, and databases.
When I'm not coding, you'll find me exploring new technologies, cracking open open-source projects to see what they are made of, building apps, or writing about software development on my blog.
What I'm Into
4 main areas of software development that excite me the most
End-to-End Development
Building complete solutions from frontend to backend is incredibly hard and time consuming but super rewarding to see them come together and provide real value.
Database Systems
Data engines and the intricacies of storage, retrieval, and optimization are fascinating pieces of engineering that I would love to explore more with more time.
Operating Systems
Process management, memory, threads, scheduling, and everything else that makes an operating system tick simply fascinates me.
Programming Languages
Type systems, lexers, parsers, compilers, interpreters, and the design choices that shape how we write code are topics I enjoy diving into.
My Journey
A brief overview of my professional path
Fresh Graduate & Open to Opportunities
Recently graduated Master of AI@UNSW and actively seeking new opportunities to apply my skills and contribute as a software developer. I work extremely hard and provide real value!
Master of AI @ UNSW
Pursued a Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence at the University of New South Wales, deepening my understanding of machine learning, data science, and intelligent systems.
Software Developer
Spent over five years building software solutions end-to-end, from architecture to deployment. Also took on contract work alongside main employment, gaining experience across diverse industries and technologies.
Software Engineering @ USP
Born in Korea and raised in Fiji, I studied and graduated with a degree in Software Engineering from the University of the South Pacific—where my journey into software development began.
